St Leger Festival a winner for Rossington Hall

Rossington Hall’s first venture to the St Leger Festival has been a great success with over 600 people visiting the Rossington Hall Premier Marquee on the Lawn, including famous guests such as Olympic medallist hurdler Colin Jackson, pictured here with the owners of Rossington Hall, Gary and Michelle Gee.  Of course the ladies on Thursday were an absolute picture and dressed the marquee far better than anyone could have wished for.

A beautiful double decker marquee, in the corner of the champagne lawn, with a perfect view of the straight mile right down to the finishing line from the top floor, the marquee proved a hit with race-goers – and a wonderful retreat from the wind and rain on a couple of the days – and from the huge throng on Leger Day itself, when the heavens were kind to us and sent the sunshine.  But none of the excitement was lost as guests partied at the champagne bars in the marquee, enjoyed the cocktail making skills of Doncaster company Spiritus and danced to the swing band that kicked each day in the marquee off with a flourish.

Gary and Michelle, avid race-goers themselves and members of Doncaster Racecourse, were delighted with Rossington Hall’s first participation with Doncaster Racecourse.  Gary said “With our passion for horses and period buildings we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the St Leger Festival and the opening of our beautiful stately home than bringing these 2 passions together and sponsoring the marquee.   It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves.  We saw old friends and made new ones, such as James Addenbrook and his dad who won our competition for 2 tickets to the marquee, and a lovely couple from London, Ann and her husband, who just can’t wait for our bedrooms to be ready so they can stay with us next time they are in Doncaster!  And of course it was lovely to meet Colin Jackson, who says he had a great time in the marquee.  Naturally we were all hoping that Camelot was going to win and get hold of the Triple Crown.  It would have made the celebrations even better, but it was not to be.  The winner, Encke, did a really great job and at 25/1 made a few people very happy.  There were certainly some happy faces in our marquee along with a fair few extra bottles of champagne flying around.”

St Leger Day also saw the end of Rossington Hall’s auction for a private Christmas dinner for 12 people in the beautiful Victorian dining room.  The winning bid was £1210 of which 50% is to be donated to Cancer Research UK.  Christmas day is sure to be a fantastic one for this group of family and friends!
